Nicole Kidman Given Cartier Trinity Ring

I've just read that Keith Urban recently gave Nicole Kidman a fabulous Cartier pave diamond Trinity ring, following the birth of their first child together.

The Cartier Trinity ring was first created in 1924, and has become an iconic piece of jewellery design and symbolism. It consists of three intertwined bands, crafted in platinum, red gold and yellow gold, and is often given following the birth of a first child.

Nicole is not the first celebrity to be given this ring. Bizarrely, it was also given by her ex, Tom Cruise, to Katie Holmes on Mother's Day!

The Cartier ring is priced at over $70,000, so for those of us without a celebrity sized wallet, there is an alternative ring design that is traditionally given following the birth of a child. Diamond eternity rings are symbolic of unity and enduring love, and are a great way for a man to show his appreciation following the ordeal of giving birth!

Ali G Wedding Postponed Innit!

Sacha Baron Cohen, otherwise known as Ali G and Borat, and his Aussie actress fiancée, Isla Fisher, have postponed their wedding plans.

The wedding was due to take place this summer, but the couple have now decided to wait until Isla completes her conversion to the Jewish faith.

Converting to another faith requires a huge amount of effort and commitment, so it's a good sign for their relationship, and for their family. They already have a daughter, Olive, born in October last year.

There have been rumours that Sacha's parents, and particularly his mother, are not happy that Isla has been slow with her Jewish studies, blaming her quick return to work after having the baby. It seems they are keen to formalise the marriage, and would have preferred her to stay at home following the birth, combining her Judaism studies and motherhood rather than pursuing her career.

At a time when many women want to have it all - the husband, kids and the successful career - there's usually sacrifices to be made somewhere along the way. Let's hope that the pressure doesn't have a negative effect on their relationship, as they make a great couple.

Never Too Posh To Pawn!

Aparently, upmarket pawnbrokers are seeing a massive increase in the number of wealthy individuals pawning jewellery and other valuables.

Diamond rings, watches and other jewellery items are popular choices, with even diamond engagement rings being temporarily pawned in the hope that they can be retrieved when finances are more free flowing.

The credit crunch is clearly affecting people at every level. For many, the current climate means making changes to the way they shop, buying cheaper food brands and looking at ways to pull in the purse strings on their day to day living expenditure. However, among the wealthier sets, it is the luxury items that are hit. It may be that they can't quite find the deposit for that holiday villa, or they're struggling to pay the private school fees. And with banks more reluctant to offer credit, the pawnshop is becoming the best place to secure credit, and with no form filling and waiting around for bank approval.

Celebrity Engagement Rings

There seems to have been a lot of celebrity engagements and weddings this year, so we thought it would be fun to have a look at some of the sexiest and blatantly bling-tastic engagement rings to have graced the fingers of some of our favourite stars and celebs.

I think we have to start the list with the ring that rates highest on the bling-ometer, and there can be no doubt that Mariah Carey wins this accolade hands down. Her whopping 15 carat emerald cut pink diamond ring is certainly an eyecatcher, if not a finger breaker! It's rumoured to be worth a cool $2.5 million.

Desperate Housewife, Nicolette Sheridan, was presented with a beautifully elegant 5 carat diamond engagement ring by singer Michael Bolton.

One of my personal favourites is the antique style diamond engagement ring worn by Katherine Heigl. It is a lovely pear shaped diamond with pave diamond platinum band. Aparently half the platinum band was made using platinum from her mother's engagement ring.

Spicy Salma Hayek has a ring that reflects her strong personality. Weighing approximately 5 carats, it is a LARGE classic oval cut diamond set in platinum - quite a rock!

Another one of my favourites has to be the understated but elegant diamond engagement ring worn by Scarlett Johansson. This is a round solitaire diamond on a diamond pave band.

Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt has an engagement ring which seems to match her sweet and feminine personality. It is a vintage diamond floral design, and is a family heirloom given to her by Scottish actor Ross McCall.

Carmen Electra made a less traditional choice with her black diamond solitaire ring, but it looks stunning, and suits her style perfectly.

Probably the most highly 'prized' celebrity babes to be born recently are Knox Leon (hello?!?) and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt. Born on Saturday, both babies and mother are all said to be in good health.

The right to publish the first baby photos has sparked a ferocious bidding war between the celebrity magazines, which could result in the biggest baby photo payout ever! Brad and Angelina have said that ALL the proceeds will go to charity - which is great to hear, and confirms why they are still two of our favourite celebs!

Raef To Be Presenter On Richard And Judy Show

Apprentice fave, Raef Bjayou, has accepted an offer to work on the Richard & Judy show, starting in the autumn.

His ambition, aparently, is to become a chat show host, and after a live audition on the show, Richard was describing him as 'a natural'.

He was definately one of my faves on The Apprentice, so i'll be looking out for him later in the year - i think he'll be very entertaining. And who could forget the man who boasted: 'The spoken word is my tool'!

Matthew McConaughey Baby Photos

Gorgeous actor Matthew McConaughey has reportedly sold pictures of his newborn son, Levi, for $3 million.

Levi was born barely a week ago, and his parents have already signed a deal with OK magazine for the photos! This is the crazy world of celebrity - rather than being totally consumed with the arrival of your first-born son, there's important money-making deals to be made.......i thought Matthew McConaughey was different!! But it seems that even though he has some fairly alternative activities, such as playing his drums naked in the garden........underneath it all, he's actually just out to make the most of his situation, and i guess money buys you freedom to do what you want. I just hope he does some good with the money......

Elle Macpherson Must Be Feeling Bad

The news that multi-millionnaire Arpad Busson has become engaged to Uma Thurman must have been a painful thing for Elle Macpherson to hear.

Elle devoted nine years of her life to the wealthy hedge-funder, and had two children with him, but he never asked her to marry him. The generally accepted excuse was that his strong catholic faith forbade him marrying a divorcee. Yet here he is, engaged to a twice divorced agnostic, whose father was the first westerner to be ordained a Buddhist priest!

And it's not as if they're being very discreet about the news. They've been celebrating in style with a celebrity studded party at their Kensington home, which must really be rubbing Elle's nose in it.

Well, he may have been tactless about his recent engagement, but he certainly has got style when it comes to choosing engagement rings. Uma is wearing a divine 8 carat diamond ring that really does make a statement.

Six Month Celibacy For Katie Price & Peter Andre

According to Peter Andre, he and his partner Katie haven't had sex for six months.

As seen on their reality TV show, Peter & Katie: The Next Chapter, Peter had aranged a romantic hotel break, hoping the pair could have some intimate time together. Their busy lives don't leave them much opportunity to do this.

Talking about their sex life, Peter said: "Having children ruins it! But it's about finding time for us as a couple and realising sex is no longer the number one priority in our relationship."

It's refreshing to hear celebrities talking about the reality of busy lives and having young children, and reassuring to know that even with all that money, they still suffer the same problems as us!

And well done to the pair for winning their libel case against the tabloid press!
