Interesting Facts About Citrine....
Citrine is the alternative gemstone for the month of November (after topaz). It is a crystal quartz and has a hardness on the Mohs sclae of 7, which makes it reasonably resilient to scratching. Unsurprisingly the name comes from its' resemblance to the colour of citrus fruits, although they do in fact come in a range of tones from the pure shades you find here to richer, browner tones.
It is believed to have a profound effect on sleep, both as an aide in treating insomnia and to ward off nightmares. Citrine is said to work on the subconscious and bring people more in touch with their spiritual and intuitive side. Nowadays its main sources are Brazil and Uruguay, but it was originally mined in European countries such as Spain, Germany, France, Hungary and even the Scottish island of Arran.
