Interesting Facts About Diamond Illusion Necklaces.....
The Diamond Store's illusion necklaces actually use an invisible setting to create the 'illusion' that the four diamonds (of 0.25 carat weight) are almost one big diamond.
The invisible setting is created by cutting ridges into the diamonds and putting them into a metal frame, which is below the surface of the ring and can't be seen. The outer metal rim of the ring is then pushed over the outer edges of the stones which forces them to fit tightly together and creates a solid surface of diamonds.
The illusion setting is slightly different and is where the diamonds are mounted on glass, adding an extra dimension to its size and light refraction. A diamond can have perfect colour and clarity grade but when poorly cut will look unremarkable and as lifeless cut glass.
Light is constantly entering into the diamond through the table, which is the largest facet. Once inside, the light will travel within the stone by reflecting off the diamond's many other facets, essentially acting as a collection of mirrors. In a perfectly cut diamond the light will then bounce back out through the table to the eye in the form of brilliance. If there is one setting that actually helps to enhance and essentially cheat this process, it is the illusion setting.
