More interesting facts and information about eternity rings.....

The origin of the eternity ring can be traced back as far as 4000BC with the endless or eternal loop being a symbol of external love. To accentuate the theme of two lives forever intertwined, many eternity rings are multi stranded or plaited or even designed in the form of a snake swallowing its own tail.

One traditional event in our lives for giving or receiving an eternity ring is the birth of the first child. This is one way that men can empathise and show support for what their partner has endured during the often painful process of childbirth. Another date is your first wedding anniversary, which certainly beats the traditional exchanging of paper gifts!

Most women adore the romantic concept of a man giving them a gift which gives the unspoken message of his enduring love, and then by wearing the eternity ring being able to demonstrate that they are loved and treasured by someone. A modern way of wearing the ring is on the third finger of you left hand, followed by your wedding band and then engagement ring.

The most common feature of all eternity rings is that they are set with some type of stone. The most popular is diamonds, which because of their own symbolism reinforce the declaration of love. A full eternity ring has stones set right around the band, while a half eternity is only partially set. The half eternity is becoming the more popular style nowadays as women can get the maximum sparkle or “bling” effect with all the diamonds being concentrated at the front. Also full eternity rings are often two or three times more expensive. A current trend amongst the modern rings is a raised head. This is because diamond set wedding bands are fashionable and these new styles stop them from looking too similar.

Claw settings are popular, but other attractive and more practical styles are the grain, flush or pave, where the stones are set into the metal of the band. These are often more comfortable to wear and reduce the thickness of the ring between the fingers.

Round brilliant cut diamonds are usually used for solitaire rings, while square or oblong stones which can be set edge to edge and form a continuous line, look spectacular in eternity rings. Te relatively new princess square cut diamond is another excellent choice.
