Reports from Zimbabwe are suggesting that illegal mining operations are funding terror. This comes at a time when Zimbabwe is trying to crackdown on diamond smuggling. These illegally mined diamonds are being transported through Marange and used for funding terrorist groups.
According to The Herald, diamond leakages are still occurring on a large scale despite government stationed soldiers and police at diamond fields.
Blood diamonds/conflict diamonds, as they are colloquially known, are traded for weapons and used by terrorists in their murderous campaigns.
