While candlelight and violin music may set the traditional tone for a proposal, there are other ways to be romantic as some lovers proved over the weekend.
One couple in particular experienced the earth moving under their feet as they got engaged several metres in the air aboard a ferris wheel. Austen Webber proposed to surprised girlfriend Stephanie Suggs as they did the rounds on a big wheel at an agricultural fair in Wayne’s County, US.
Staying across the pond and another shocked girlfriend found herself being proposed to after having taken part in a 13 mile half-marathon. Once over the finish line at the Baltimore Running Festival, her boyfriend Ethan Alden-Danforth ran to his waiting parents to collect a 3 stone engagement ring before returning to drop on bended knee where Jennifer Albert was waiting.
Although exhausted and covered in sweat, the exhilaration of completing the race and getting engaged made the day doubly special for the pair of them.
