Opal rings are not usually on the radar of most people looking to buy some interesting but different jewellery. It is less common than other precious stones such as diamonds or rubies but it is just as attractive to look at.

Opal rings are typically made from white gold or yellow gold and are available in a range of different shapes, styles and sizes. Black opals tend to be the rarest and most expensive but colours can range from red to blue to yellow. They are typically found in Russia, America and parts of Africa but they are more commonly found in Australia. The most popular and most common colour for an opal is a milky white opal. They are a very distinct and individual looking gemstone which could explain their rise in popularity especially as it is the birthstone for those who are born in October.

Opal doublets and triplets are composite stones that are made by positioning a thin layer of opal on top of a chunk of glass or less expensive gemstone which is typically found on cheaper piece of opal jewellery. When examining the opal, look for indicators which could show that it has been stacked. You should also check to see if the top of the stone matches the base of the stone.

If you are considering buying a gift for your partner but are unsure of what type to choose, one gemstone you may not have heard of is Peridot. Peridot is a green in colour precious gemstone that is becoming more and more popular in jewellery designs. The green colour is usually around olive but can change depending on the amount of iron that the stone contains. Peridot is a form of Olivine which is quite a common material but the gemstone Peridot is quite rare.

Peridot rings can be bought in different types of precious metals including platinum, white gold and yellow gold. And when the Peridot is highlighted by clusters of beautiful diamonds the ring can show off this precious stone to the fullest.

Peridot is the August birthstone so is a great gift for anyone whose birthday falls in this month. It is also supposed to have powers that help to ease anxiety and folklore states the stone could only be found at night because of its strange iridescence that was easier to see under moonlight.

Whether you believe these rumours or not, Peridot rings are a beautiful addition to any jewellery collection.

A necklace is a classic gift that will always be loved and appreciated. And whether it features a solid material for the pendant in white gold or yellow gold or a combination of the two it will never fail to impress.

A beautiful design to go for however is a necklace with a pendant that features a combination of different gemstones or even a cluster of gemstones. A large amount of small stones clustered together can create the illusion of a much larger single stone and can look magnificent when worn in the nape of the neck with a ball gown on a special occasion. A white gold cluster pendant necklace can really add that wow factor to your jewellery box because it features many small stones instead of a large single solitaire so the low prices are astounding.

White gold is a classic precious metal and is currently more in fashion than its yellow counterpart. The colour of the necklace looks good on any skin tones and the delicate chain links are accentuated by the larger cluster of precious stones. Whatever occasion you choose, a white gold pendant cluster necklace is the perfect gift.
