One of my favourite gemstones is the beautiful sparkling aquamarine.  It is the birthstone for anyone born in March, and a pair of aquamarine earrings or an aquamarine ring would make a fabulous birthday present.

The other good thing about aquamarines is that they are moderately priced gemstones and not too expensive.  The cost being dependent on the quality and size of the stone.  So you can opt for a pair of earrings set with a number of small, less quality aquamarines which still look pretty impressive, or if your budget allows you might choose a large, good quality  solitaire aquamarine ring.

Their clear pale colouring makes them perfect stones to complement the lighter, fresh  spring colours  so if you’re not buying a piece of aquamarine jewellery as a birthday present you can just use the excuse you needed some lighter jewellery to wear in the sunshine!

With Valentine’s Day just over the next excuse to splash out on a piece of diamond jewellery is at Easter.  And what can be more appropriate and a better gift to give than a diamond egg pendant.

Egg pendants come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are beautiful pieces of jewellery to wear round your neck.   They are adaptable and look just as good worn with a pair of jeans and T shirt as with formal evening wear.  They are available in white or yellow gold and  come in a range of prices to suit all pockets.

So if you want to buy something a bit special for someone you love this Easter than a diamond egg pendant is the ideal  gift.

Sapphire Engagement RingsA flurry of the usual engagement ring purchases occurred over the Valentines period but we have started to wonder if it was in anyway affected by the “William and Kate” effect?

Whilst we have sold our usual quota of classic Diamond Engagement Rings we have definitely seen an increase in interest and sales of Sapphire Engagement Rings.

Luckily prior to the Royal announcement we had just launched a new collection of Sapphire rings and one ring in particular bears a striking resemblance to Kate & Williams engagement ting.

We have also noticed that other styles & gemstones are starting to make a comeback…emerald engagement rings, ruby engagement rings and even tanzanite engagement rings are all proving very popular at the moment.

So, we’ll keep an eye on the sales and see how things progress through the spring and summer, my bet is that this year’s Royal Wedding will spur a rise in engagements and weddings, lets hope so!

At the weekend Hollywood descended on London’s Royal Opera House in Covent Garden for the BAFTA ceremony.

As expected The King’s Speech cleaned up, but the event is as much about the awards and recognition as it is of who wore what on the red carpet. This year the choice of diamonds were slightly more subdued compared to last month’s Golden Globes with diamond stud earrings featuring heavily.

Diamond studs were only rivalled by diamond tennis bracelets and diamond drop earrings as worn by actress Julianne Moore. Harry Potter star Emma Watson let her Valentino gown do the talking with her only accessory being a pair of ornate diamond cluster stud earrings.

Cocktail rings were also popular with Sarah Harding’s huge ruby ring and Thandie Newton’s large emerald cocktail ring.
