Michelle Obama and one of her two daughters are due to visit Marbella on Spain’s Costa del Sol for a short break and are staying at the exclusive 5 star Villa Padierna Hotel. Although officially her husband will not be joining her, it is Barack Obama’s 49th birthday while she is in Spain, and rumours are rife that the hotel has been asked to produce a birthday cake.
It will be interesting to see what jewellery America’s first lady of fashion wears under the Spanish sun. Her red-carpet lifestyle has been likened to that enjoyed by Cherie Blair and Jackie Kennedy and she owns an impressive collection of diamond jewellery, designer outfits and Jimmy Choo shoes – which means she will feel totally at home with Marbella’s glitterati.
She often wears a small dog tag that reads “Hope”, combined with a tiny peace symbol necklace. When she’s feeling bold she wears strands of oversize faux pearls.
Her election night jewellery included dangling diamond earrings which were a perfect choice for the celebration.
Michelle Obama won’t wear jewellery in a staid way – her style is best described as significant but not blingy. She takes some classic elements and applies them in an artistic way. For example she often groups three diamond brooches on the neckline of dresses and sweaters and even pins them to necklaces.
